Most secretarial teams still do this by hand.
It keeps qualified people on admin and caps how many entities your firm can take on. We move that work onto software, so you can grow your client book without growing your headcount.
-
By hand: Each entity checked by hand, one company at a time
With BluShift: Every company and close corporation worked through, with missing documents flagged
-
By hand: Annual returns and review packs put together manually
With BluShift: Returns and review packs prepared, with the compliance checklist attached
-
By hand: Deadlines and progress tracked in spreadsheets
With BluShift: Every entity tracked as a case, from first check to sign-off
-
By hand: The same clients chased for the same documents every year
With BluShift: BO mandates sent, and clients reminded automatically until they reply
-
By hand: Client data rekeyed between practice management, workflow tools and Excel
With BluShift: Your systems connected, so nothing is typed twice
How it works
One pipeline, from client list to sign-off.
Bots do the legwork on the platforms you already own, and every entity is tracked as a case, so you always know where it stands.
-
01
Queue
Every company and close corporation on your book gets a case, linked to your practice management system.
-

Human in the loop
Human in the loop
Software prepares. Your people sign off.
AI and automation take the volume. The judgement, and the signature, stay with your firm.
-
Automation
RPA bots take the repetitive steps: moving data between systems, building packs and sending reminders.
-
AI agents
For the steps that need judgement, like reading what clients send back and flagging what doesn't match the register.
-
Your company secretaries
They review and sign off every return, declaration and pack. Nothing is submitted without them.
Company secretarial software that chases, checks and calculates.
We're also building our own platform for company secretarial firms. It keeps the statutory registers, works out who ultimately owns or controls each company, and gets the annual return pack ready for your team to review and file.
- Statutory registers, kept in one place
- Beneficial ownership worked out through layers of companies, trusts and nominees
- A compliance calendar for BO declarations and annual returns
- Clients reply on a phone-friendly page, with no login
- Filing packs only go through once six checks pass
- Public interest score calculated, so you know whether a company needs an audit or an independent review
- Annual return packs prepared for your team to review and file

FAQ
Before you book a call.
The short version. We'll go deeper on the call.
Can you automate CIPC annual returns?
Yes, everything up to submission. Each company and close corporation is worked through, missing documents are flagged, and the annual return and secretarial review pack are prepared with the compliance checklist attached. A company secretary reviews and signs off before your team submits.
How do you handle beneficial ownership (BO) declarations?
We work out which entities need a BO declaration, prepare the mandates and client letters, and send automatic reminders to clients who go quiet. BluShift CoSec, our platform in development, also works out beneficial ownership through layers of companies, trusts and nominees.
Will AI replace our company secretaries?
No. Automation and AI take the checking, rekeying and chasing off their desks. Your professionals still review and sign off everything, and spend more of their time on the judgement calls clients pay for.
Do we have to change our practice management system?
No. We build on the tools you already use, such as GreatSoft, Pipefy, Xero, Jira, Excel and Microsoft 365, and connect them so work moves between them without rekeying.
How do engagements work?
Most firms start with a digital maturity and automation assessment. From there, a monthly retainer covers a set number of hours to keep improving how work moves through the firm. Larger builds, like connecting your practice management and workflow systems, are quoted separately at a fixed price.
Do you only work with company secretarial firms?
No. We work with audit, accounting and company secretarial firms, moving high-volume compliance work off people and onto software while your professionals review and sign off. We're based in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
